Parti d\u2019une simple r\u00e9novation de toilettes, le projet \u00ab\u00a0EKOPI\u00a0\u00bb f\u00e9d\u00e8re aujourd\u2019hui \u00e9tablissements scolaires, collectivit\u00e9s et agriculteurs autour d\u2019un objectif commun : produire un fertilisant azot\u00e9 local, gratuit et efficace. Une exp\u00e9rimentation initi\u00e9e par le Civam BLE et le coll\u00e8ge Saint Vincent d\u2019Hendaye qui interroge aussi bien l\u2019agriculture que l\u2019assainissement et l\u2019urbanisme.<\/p> <\/div>\n<div class=\"col-md-4\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.civam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/tipi-bloc-vue-de-face-scaled-1-e1772037450179.jpg\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<h2>Une r\u00e9volution partie\u2026 des toilettes d\u2019un coll\u00e8ge<\/h2>\n<p>Tout commence au coll\u00e8ge Saint-Vincent d\u2019Hendaye, o\u00f9 la r\u00e9novation des sanitaires ouvre une r\u00e9flexion sur l\u2019\u00e9conomie d\u2019eau.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #e85c21;\"><em>\u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est un projet multi-enjeux : de la r\u00e9novation des toilettes, on est pass\u00e9 \u00e0 un enjeu \u00e9ducatif et territorial, c\u2019est la r\u00e9volution du pipi utile.\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<\/em>r\u00e9sume son directeur, Philippe Bancon.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Le coll\u00e8ge opte pour des urinoirs secs \u2013 masculins et f\u00e9minins \u2013 \u00e9quip\u00e9s de valves anti-odeurs, ainsi que des toilettes s\u00e8ches reli\u00e9es \u00e0 un composteur. \u00c0 la cl\u00e9 : 400 \u00e0 500 m\u00b3 d\u2019eau \u00e9conomis\u00e9s par an et une cuve enterr\u00e9e de 12 m\u00b3 destin\u00e9e \u00e0 collecter l\u2019urine, soit 20 \u00e0 50 m\u00b3\/an \u00e0 terme.<br\/>\nLes ajustements d\u2019usage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 rapides, y compris pour les urinoirs f\u00e9minins. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves, \u00e9tonnamment enthousiastes, valident l\u2019installation. Un syst\u00e8me de pompes facilite d\u00e9sormais la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration du lisain (urine stock\u00e9e), pr\u00eat \u00e0 \u00eatre test\u00e9 comme fertilisant.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Urine comme fertilisant azot\u00e9 : le collectif local s\u2019\u00e9largi<\/h2>\n<h2><img alt=\"Cuve enterr\u00e9e pour la collecte de l\u2019urine \" class=\"wp-image-21093 alignright\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" height=\"393\" sizes=\"(max-width: 309px) 100vw, 309px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.civam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cuve.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.civam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cuve.png 683w, https:\/\/www.civam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cuve-236x300.png 236w, https:\/\/www.civam.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/cuve-600x763.png 600w\" width=\"309\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>Autour du coll\u00e8ge, un r\u00e9seau d\u2019acteurs se constitue, accompagn\u00e9 par le Civam BLE : Ecocentre Pierre et Terre pour la conception, Leesu (Laboratoire Eau Environnement et Syst\u00e8mes Urbains) pour l\u2019appui scientifique, lyc\u00e9es agricoles, collectivit\u00e9s d\u2019Hendaye, Biriatou et Urrugne, jardins partag\u00e9s, association de citoyens et un mara\u00eecher volontaire.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #e85c21;\">\u00ab\u00a0<em>Utiliser un fertilisant \u00e9cologique local pour nourrir la population locale, c\u2019est un futur qui me r\u00e9jouit<\/em> \u00bb explique le paysan volontaire<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sous son nouveau nom, \u00ab\u00a0EKOPI\u00a0\u00bb, (EKO signifiant bio en basque et \u00ab\u00a0pi\u00a0\u00bb abr\u00e9viation de pipi) le collectif se r\u00e9unit chaque mois. L\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 2025 marque le passage aux essais pratiques : installation de cuves de 600 \u00e0 1000 L chez les utilisateurs du lisain, premier pompage au coll\u00e8ge et premiers \u00e9pandages dans les serres municipales. Les retours sont encourageants, avec une r\u00e9ponse v\u00e9g\u00e9tale jug\u00e9e \u00ab\u00a0tr\u00e8s positive\u00a0\u00bb.<br class=\"yoast-text-mark\"\/>Reste \u00e0 lever plusieurs freins : la quantit\u00e9 d\u2019urine r\u00e9colt\u00e9e (plus faible que pr\u00e9vu) et surtout l\u2019absence d\u2019autorisation d\u2019usage en agriculture biologique. La FNAB dialogue actuellement avec la Commission europ\u00e9enne et l\u2019INAO pour s\u00e9curiser les essais et \u00e9viter un risque sur la certification.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Le lisain, une ressource vieille comme l\u2019agriculture<\/h2>\n<p>Le lisain, ou \u00ab\u00a0urine stock\u00e9e\u00a0\u00bb est utilis\u00e9 depuis l\u2019antiquit\u00e9 comme fertilisant. Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 stock\u00e9e pendant une dur\u00e9e de 1 \u00e0 6 mois dans une cuve \u00e9tanche pour \u00e9liminer les pathog\u00e8nes, il a un dosage NPK du type 6\/0.5\/1. Son application ne demande aucune r\u00e9volution technique : tonne \u00e0 lisier en grandes cultures, fertirrigation ou arrosoir en mara\u00eechage.<br class=\"yoast-text-mark\"\/>Il se distingue de biostimulants issus d\u2019urine (o\u00f9 l\u2019urine sert de milieu de culture, voir zoom ci-dessous) : ici, c\u2019est bien sa valeur fertilisante brute qui est recherch\u00e9e.<br\/>\nLes questions sanitaires, notamment li\u00e9es aux r\u00e9sidus pharmaceutiques, restent sensibles. Les travaux du Leesu montrent cependant des concentrations faibles dans les sols et un risque limit\u00e9 d\u00e8s lors que la structure du sol est bonne. Le principal point de vigilance reste les transferts par lessivage.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right;\">\u00ab On privatise notre pipi ! \u00bb \u2013 L\u2019urine, une ressource qui attire aussi le priv\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Si l\u2019usage agricole du lisain avance, un autre mouvement est d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien lanc\u00e9 : la marchandisation de l\u2019urine. Une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise a d\u00e9j\u00e0 obtenu une autorisation de mise sur le march\u00e9 pour un biostimulant \u00e9labor\u00e9 \u00e0 partir d\u2019urine ferment\u00e9e et produit d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle industrielle. De quoi faire r\u00e9agir le collectif EKOPI, qui d\u00e9fend une logique inverse : l\u2019urine comme bien commun.<\/p>\n<h2>Des d\u00e9fis r\u00e9glementaires pour utiliser l\u2019urine comme fertilisant azot\u00e9 et des opportunit\u00e9s<\/h2>\n<p>L\u2019urine n\u2019entre dans aucune cat\u00e9gorie r\u00e9glementaire claire : ni effluent d\u2019\u00e9levage, ni boue, ni biod\u00e9chet. Pour la bio, c\u2019est un angle mort. Pourtant, l\u2019enjeu est majeur. Bouclage des cycles des \u00e9l\u00e9ments fertilisants, volont\u00e9 de recycler localement et r\u00e9duction de l\u2019impact du tout-\u00e0-l\u2019\u00e9gout sur la ressource en eau.<br\/>\nSur le terrain, ce sont ainsi plusieurs pistes qui \u00e9mergent.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Faire classer le lisain comme PNPP (Pr\u00e9paration naturelle peu pr\u00e9occupante, comme les purins).<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Faire rentrer le lisain dans la liste des fertilisants accept\u00e9s en AB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pour les petites fermes, l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat est imm\u00e9diat. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019une ressource quasi gratuite et locale qui permet de r\u00e9duire leur d\u00e9pendance aux engrais azot\u00e9s de synth\u00e8se. Une ferme peut stocker l\u2019urine en cuves de 1 000 L et l\u2019utiliser via son syst\u00e8me d\u2019irrigation. Paradoxalement, cela interroge le mod\u00e8le \u00e9conomique des stations, fond\u00e9 sur le volume entrant. Mais sur le plan \u00e9cologique, la logique est imparable : moins d\u2019eau potable consomm\u00e9e, moins d\u2019effluents \u00e0 traiter.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9coles constituent un terrain id\u00e9al : \u00e9l\u00e8ves peu m\u00e9dicalis\u00e9s, grande adaptabilit\u00e9, int\u00e9r\u00eat pour l\u2019environnement. La collecte devient support p\u00e9dagogique pour le cycle de l\u2019eau, du sol et de l\u2019alimentation\u2026 Surtout lorsqu\u2019un potager scolaire permet de boucler la boucle. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle urbaine, le projet invite \u00e0 repenser les normes h\u00e9rit\u00e9es du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, o\u00f9 l\u2019on a choisi d\u2019 \u00ab enterrer \u00bb les excr\u00e9tas dans l\u2019eau potable. Victor Hugo le disait d\u00e9j\u00e0 : \u00ab Notre fumier est or. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Demain, les r\u00e8gles locales pourraient encourager toilettes s\u00e8ches dans les b\u00e2timents publics et potagers fertilis\u00e9s aux excr\u00e9tas humains.<br\/>\nAlors r\u00eavons un peu\u2026 Dans un mod\u00e8le agricole soumis aux hausses du prix des engrais et \u00e0 la d\u00e9pendance \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, l\u2019enjeu d\u00e9passe la simple technique. Il s\u2019agit d\u2019accepter qu\u2019un fertilisant puisse \u00eatre gratuit et issu d\u2019un cycle local.
